Gatineau Tenant Fined $1000 For Hosting Gathering Amid Covid Isolation

A Gatineau person received a $1,000 fine for hosting a gathering at an apartment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, the Quebec Government banned all public gatherings in a bid to limit the spread of novel coronavirus, including gatherings in an indoor setting.

The fine was issued following a noise complaint at an apartment in Hull early Wednesday morning.  During the call police discovered five people including two people that did not live in the unit.

The tenant also received a $200.00 fine after disobeying Gatineau’s noise bylway. The $1000.00 fine was issued after the tenant refused to shut down the event.

Residents could be fined between $1,000-$6,000 for violating the Public Health Act banning all public gatherings.
