Hawkesbury OPP along with members of the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit are investigating after a man broke into an Alfred residence last Wednesday evening. A person was assaulted and sustained life-threatening injuries. The male is described as being in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He was wearing jeans and no shirt. If you have any information on this incident you are asked to contact Detective Constable Sabastien Brisson at 613-632-2729. The OPP encourages everyone to make sure windows and doors are locked, especially at night.
Champlain Township issued a press release yesterday advising that as part of the Highway 34 / Connecting Link Project in Vankleek Hill, it will be closing the intersection of Highway 34, High Street and Main Street (County Road 10) for 2 weeks, beginning next Monday. During this time, the contractor will work extended hours, in order to complete the work of the water and sewage underground infrastructure sooner.
A 21-year-old Ottawa man is facing six charges, including pointing a firearm, after a road rage incident in Ottawa on Merivale Road on Saturday. Police say the driver of the suspected vehicle pointed a firearm at the occupants of another vehicle. The victim then pulled their vehicle into a nearby parking lot in order to end the dispute and 911 was called. Police later located the suspected vehicle and Ahmed Atem Abdraman is facing charges.
Police say a dirt bike rider who allegedly wove around pedestrians on a sidewalk was arrested after being found hiding in the attic of a Kingston home. Police say they got numerous calls Sunday afternoon reporting a dirt bike swerving in and out of traffic, onto sidewalks around pedestrians, and popping wheelies for several hundred metres. Investigators say they eventually tracked the vehicle to a home and found the suspect hiding in the attic. A 27-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, and driving while disqualified.
