Today the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital is launching a comprehensive Respiratory Therapy Program for outpatients providing exams and treatment for adults and children afflicted with breathing disorders, allergies, respiratory infections or chronic pul-mo-nary diseases. The Program brings together several health care professionals, and features a laboratory that is offered at the main campus in the recently opened Block B. Patients must have a referral from their physician to book an appointment. A second phase targeted for winter 2019 will extend to inpatients in the Complex Continuing Care Unit, the Emergency Department, the Intensive Care Unit and the Family Birthing Centre.
A meeting held last week about La Nation’s sports complex project underscored the gap between what community members want and what the municipality is willing to spend. Francis Brière, Ward 4 councillor told the approximately 60 attendees that he and Mayor François St. Amour were there to cater to all wants and needs—as long as it fits within the $320,000 yearly budget. He also said between three and five full-time new jobs could be expected when the complex is up and running. Mayor St. Amour said the complex would be funded through taxation, but there would be some revenue created via user fees.
