What Do Skates, Kilts, And Ottawa Have In Common?

I bet if you saw a crow of people dressed in kilts skating around you would think something is up right? Especially with the arctic temperatures we have been having lately.

Soon it won’t be such a mystery. The annual Sir John A’s Great Canadian Kilt Skate is an Ottawa phenomenon that has a small origin story. It started as house party!

The 2018 skate will feature six different communities – Montreal, Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, Alexandria, and Ottawa all will hit the ice and compete for bragging rights as Canada’s Kilt Skate Capital.

The Ottawa kilt skate comes on January 20th. Organizers are encouraging the public to take part in this amazing community event. Grab your kilts, tartans and Scottish regalia and skate for your city!
