Winter is coming! Maybe not just yet, but the Fall season is definitely here. Here are a few things to get a jump on before the cold really sets in.
Service Your Furnace
Try and get this done before the cold weather sets in. Make a call to your heating and cooling company to service your furnace. A specialist should inspect the furnace to make sure everything is in working order and that there are no leaks.
Use Fireplaces Safely
Make sure that you keep fire in its proper place by using a fireplace screen to keep sparks from flying out of the fireplace. Never leave a burning fire unattended, and make sure a fire in a fireplace is completely out before going to bed.
Be Careful with Space Heaters
Space heaters are a great way to warm up a cold room, but you must read the instructions on your unit before using it. Some space heaters require venting, make sure you keep these vented to the outdoors. Do not ever use your stove or oven to heat your home and always allow at least three feet of empty area around space heaters.
